Fertilization in Madagascar: 150 babies in vitro born in 3 years

In addition to the Malagasy couples who have difficulty having children, foreign patients also come to the Grande Ile for procreation, Dr. Rakotobe Andriamaro, an obstetrician gynecologist, has been entrusted to the fertility Centre in Madagascar.

Technique carried out in Malagasy territory

Reproductive medicine is experiencing considerable progress in Madagascar. As proof, 150 babies in vitro were born in the country in the space of 3 years. The technique of artificial fertilization is carried out in the Grande Ile for the many women who now face difficulties in procreation. "They are numerous because there are triplet and twins born thanks to the intervention", explained Dr. Rakotobe Andriamaro, obstetrician gynecologist at the fertility Center of Madagascar on the account of the newspaper L'Express de Madagascar.

Nearly 70 couples became parents

The gynecologist is delighted with the place that Madagascar occupies in medicine. Indeed, many foreign couples, German, French, Guadeloupe, Ugandan, Nigerian and Comorian, have already succeeded in having children through in-vitro fertilization practiced in the Grande Ile. The first babies "miracles" were born in September 2014 in a private clinic in Antananarivo. A woman gave birth to a triplet, a girl and two boys who were healthy at birth. Since then, nearly 70 couples have succeeded in building a family.

Ongoing projects

Infertility is a scourge that many couples face. It may be the consequence of abortion, obstruction or ablation of the tubes. Reproductive problems also concern women who are only decided to have a child in their thirties. The gynecologist at the origin of in-vitro fertilization in Madagascar plans to go further in reproductive health. "Research is underway to apply in-vitro artificial fertilization (FAV) in Madagascar. It will be a technique "made in Madagascar", aspires Dr. Rakotobe Andriamaro.
